Plumbing[Architecture and Construction Cluster] |
The Plumbing Technology program of study is an instructional program that prepares individuals to practice as licensed plumbers by applying technical knowledge, safety and skills to lay out, assemble, install and maintain plumbing fixtures and systems for steam, natural gas, oil, hot water, heating, cooling, drainage, lubricating, sprinkling and industrial processing systems in home and business environments. The program combines classroom and practical learning experiences that correspond with applicable codes and standards. The practicum includes a non-paid, campus-based internship, or a paid off-campus apprenticeship with an industry partner. Both opportunities provide students with real-world, industry-relevant experience. Students must be 16 years of age to participate in apprenticeships. Upon successful completion of all requirements and program hours, students are encouraged to apply for the Journeyman's License, Inspector's License and Master Plumber's License. The Pumbing Technology program of study is currently available and open for enrollment at Career Institute North and the Career Institute South. If you attend North Dallas HS, Conrad HS, W.T. White HS, Thomas Jefferson HS or Hillcrest HS, you belong to Career Institute North. |
