EIA (REGULATION) ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT – GRADING/PROGRESS REPORTS TO PARENTS

The amendment to EIA (Reg) includes changes throughout the regulation to revise language by updating the progress reports to the fourth week. Also, changes were made to reinstate weights assigned to students ACP scores for computing their final grades. The weight for grades 3-5 is to be set at 5% and the weight for high school courses in middle school to be set at 10%. These weights had been included in this regulation previously and were eliminated. Evaluation and Assessment is proposing that these weights be reinstated to align with the current practice being used to compute grades. In addition, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) section was added to identify guidelines, expectations of original student work, and the mitigation of cyberbullying with AI tools in grades 9-12.

FD (REGULATION) ADMISSIONS

FD (Regulation) was updated to align with FD(LOCAL) that was approved by the Board on March 20, 2025. The Programs for Three and Four Year Olds have been removed.  Text was added and struck under Exchange Students and Entering Students from Other Countries, Students from Nonacredited Schools, and Students from Homeschools.

FNCA (REGULATION) STUDENT CONDUCT – DRESS CODE

Beginning August 2025, the Dallas Independent School District will initiate a districtwide program that will require students in grades Prekindergarten-12 to wear student ID badges on campus and at district events. The purpose of the initiative is to enhance the ability to verify the students' identity and deter unauthorized entry into district facilities.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI) IN DALLAS ISD – A PLAYBOOK FOR RESPONSIBLE AND INNOVATIVE USE

The purpose of the Dallas ISD AI handbook is to guide students and staff on ethical AI use, promote AI as a learning tool, address misuse, ensure consistency across schools, prepare students for future jobs, encourage responsible innovation, and support staff development.

The above regulations have been sent to the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) for inclusion to the District’s Board Policy Manual.  Documents generally will post within a few weeks of adoption.

The Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Dallas ISD: A Playbook for Responsible and Innovative Use is available through the District’s Board Policy Manual under the Resource Links tab.
