Welcome to Dallas ISD Career Institutes

  • The vision of the Dallas ISD Career Institutes is to provide high school students a choice to pursue a Career and Technical Education (CTE) Pathway, work with industry partners, train on state-of-the-art, industry standard equipment, obtain four or more certifications, and obtain dual credit when appropriate, prior to graduation.  A Career Institute will prepare students for high skill, high wage, and high demand occupations.

Dallas ISD is planning to strategically place four Career Institutes throughout various quadrants of the city.  Each Career Institute will serve as a hub for the high schools within the quadrant.  The first two Career Institutes in the Northern and Southern sectors of the city will open in the fall of 2020. The Career Institute in the northern sector will support the following high schools:  Conrad High School; Hillcrest High School; North Dallas High School; Thomas Jefferson High School; and W.T. White High School.  The Career Institute in the southern sector will support the following high schools:  Adamson High School, Carter High School, Kimball High School, Molina High School, Roosevelt High School, South Oak Cliff High School, and Sunset High School.

These state-of-the-art facilities will feature real-world learning spaces and industry standard equipment for 9th - 12th grade students pursuing interests in Career Technical Education (CTE). The initial pathways will focus on the construction industry:  General Construction; Electrical & Solar Technology; Water Conservation & Plumbing; and Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration (HVAC/R) Technology. Additional pathways will be added in the next several years.

Incoming 9th and 10th grade students are currently being recruited for the construction pathways and the foundational course, Principles of Construction, that will begin on high school campuses this fall.
