AVID—Advancement Via Individual Determination—is a global nonprofit organization committed to closing opportunity gaps by preparing all students for college, career, and success in a global society.

AVID provides:

• A schoolwide college and career readiness system
• A structured approach to rigorous teaching and learning
• In-school academic support that prepares students for college eligibility and success
• High-quality professional learning that equips educators with effective, research-based instructional practices

Dallas ISD began implementing AVID in 2002. Since then, the program has continued to grow and now serves scholars and educators at more than 40 campuses across the district.

Dallas ISD is proud to have three AVID National Demonstration Schools:

• New Tech High School at B.F. Darrell
• Bryan Adams High School Leadership Academy
• Thomas J. Rusk Middle School

Felix G. Botello Personalized Learning Elementary School serves as Dallas ISD’s flagship AVID Elementary campus, modeling strong schoolwide implementation and a commitment to preparing scholars for future academic success.

Through rigorous instruction, strong support systems, intentional leadership, and a college-going culture, AVID empowers Dallas ISD scholars with the skills, confidence, and determination needed to succeed in school and beyond.
