Harold Jones begins his 11th year as the athletic coordinator for David W. Carter High School and his 32nd year in education. A 1987 Carter graduate, he played defensive back in football, was an outfielder in baseball for the Cowboys, and earned an athletic scholarship to Ranger Junior College.

Jones has been recognized as an outstanding science teacher while also exhibiting success as defensive coordinator at South Oak Cliff and Carter high schools. In past years as defensive coordinator, Jones has posted a top-10 defense, including a No. 1 ranked defense in 2014.

Jones has held several coaching positions, including head coach for softball at South Oak Cliff, James Madison, and Carter high schools. As a head softball coach, he has introduced the sport to girls who have not only developed an understanding of the game but also gained an appreciation and passion for it. Under his guidance, many male and female student-athletes have furthered their education and athletic careers at the collegiate level.

In 2018, Jones was recognized as Dallas ISD’s Co-Athletic Coordinator of the Year. In 2024, he led the school to its first district championship in softball. Jones earned a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from Paul Quinn College and a master’s of education in educational leadership and policy studies from the University of Texas at Arlington.

He and his wife, Adrienne, have two children, Travis and Madison, who are also graduates of Dallas ISD.
