James Davis is in his first season as the campus athletic coordinator at South Oak Cliff High School.
A proud Dallas native and 2000 graduate of James Madison High School, Davis brings more than 15 years of coaching, teaching, and leadership experience within Dallas ISD. His deep-rooted passion for developing student-athletes makes him a great fit for the Golden Bears community.
“I believe in the power of sports to teach life lessons—discipline, perseverance, teamwork—that stay with students long after the final whistle. I’m excited to work alongside our administration, coaches, students, and families to enhance our programs and continue the SOC legacy we can all be proud of.”
Davis has been a valued member of the South Oak Cliff administrative team, the social studies department head, and AVID coordinator since August 2020. He previously served as an assistant football coach at the school for three years.
During a five-year span at Emmett J. Conrad High School from 2015-2020, was and assistant coach and served as the social studies lead. He stepped in as interim athletic coordinator and head football coach during the 1999-2000 season.
In another stop in the district, Davis coached for five years at Lincoln High School from 2009-2015. He was an assistant coach for football and baseball, mentoring and shaping student-athletes while also fulfilling the role of social studies lead.
Davis holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration/accounting from Prairie View A&M University and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Stephen F. Austin State University. He is a certified 8–12 Social Studies Composite teacher, a testament to his commitment to academic achievement and character development in athletics.
Beyond his professional roles, Davis is a dedicated family man who enjoys spending quality time with his wife Jessica and their three children: James II, Jeremiah, and Jaiah. He is also an active mentor to young athletes and a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity.
