Joseph Blevins, a 19-year coaching veteran in Dallas ISD, enters his first season as the campus athletic coordinator at Franklin D. Roosevelt High School. He also will be the Mustangs’ head baseball coach.
For the past seven years, Blevins taught and coached at Lincoln High School and Humanities/Communications Magnet. He served as the head softball coach, assistant head football coach, defensive coordinator, and college recruiting coordinator for the football team. While at Lincoln he also coached basketball for a year, baseball for 4 years, and softball for 2 years.
He previously taught and coached at Emmett J. Conrad High School from 2012-2018, where he was the head golf coach and assistant head football coach and recruiting coordinator. From 2016-2018, he was the assistant athletic coordinator. He also coached at W.W. Samuell High School from 2006-2011, when he was an assistant football and basketball coach before becoming the football defensive coordinator in 2009.
From 2005-2011, Blevins worked as a campus monitor for Dallas ISD. He also spent one year at Trimble Tech in Fort Worth ISD and got his start as a teacher at Inspired Vision Academy from 2002-2003.
Blevins, a 1995 graduate of Franklin D. Roosevelt High School, received his bachelor’s degree from Sul Ross State University in 2000 and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in educational leadership from Grand Canyon University.
He has a daughter Deaunee Blevins who’s 21 and a son Jayden Blevins who is 19.
