M.T. Tyeskie is starting his 22nd year in field of education and has been working in athletic administration for six years. Before becoming the assistant director of athletics in Dallas ISD, he served as the athletic coordinator and head football coach at Emmett J. Conrad High School for seven years, helping 42 student-athletes secure college scholarships. He was recognized as the district’s Athletic Coordinator of the Year for the 2013-2014 school year.
Tyeskie is a graduate of Lincoln High School. During his time at Lincoln, he excelled in sports such as football, baseball, track and field, and golf. Tyeskie was named to the Rivals.com list of top-100 players in Texas, the Dallas Morning News top-100 players list, and he received honorable mention all-state from Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) in football.
Tyeskie received a scholarship to Louisiana Tech University where he played quarterback for the Bulldogs. He also was a part of Louisiana Tech’s Western Athletic Conference championship team in 2001. While in Ruston, he was actively involved in the players’ council and was awarded the WAC all-academic team maintaining a GPA of 3.5.
After earning his bachelor’s degree from Peru State College, Tyeskie received a master’s degree in educational leadership from North Central University, earning a GPA of 3.91. He also completed Lamar University’s principal certification program in 2014. Currently, he is working towards his doctoral degree at Liberty University.
Tyeskie is involved as one of the founding members of the development team for aspiring directors and head football coaches at the Texas Alliance of Black School Educators (TABSE). Additionally, he plays a role on the recognition and honors committee at the Texas Black Legacy Foundation. He also is an active member of Texas High School Athletic Directors Association (THSADA) and THSCA.
His coaching journey was launched at Molina High School, where he initially focused on mentoring quarterbacks. He then transitioned to roles as a quarterbacks’ coach at Skyline High School followed by taking on positions as offensive coordinator and quarterback coach at Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, and Lincoln. He also served as the defensive coordinator at North Dallas High School.
Tyeskie’s main objective is to ensure that each student-athlete is well prepared for college and future careers while cultivating an atmosphere of excellence. He places importance on establishing connections with his students. Tyeskie’s goal is to empower athletes with resilience and a solid character to overcome obstacles. Within Dallas ISD central athletic staff, Tyeskie strives to eliminate any barriers that may impede coaches and athletes from reaching their full potential.
Tyeskie is married to Donielle, an alumna of Carter High School, who currently works as a program specialist for Dallas ISD’s P- TECH and Early College Programs. The couple has a 14-year-old daughter named Ayani, who attends D.A. Hulcy STEAM Middle School.
