Middle School Career Exploration plays a vital role in shaping students' aspirations, attitudes towards education, and future career success. By empowering them with knowledge and self-awareness, it equips young minds to become confident, well-prepared individuals ready to contribute meaningfully to society. Middle school students in CTE courses are more likely to choose a high school program of study that they will enjoy and learn skills needed to be successful in their career choice.
Career and College Readiness
All 7th graders in Dallas ISD take a Career and College Readiness course which provides them with an overview of all 13 career clusters they could choose from in High School. Students take interest surveys and learn which skills they have that could be applied to their future as they decide which career path they want to pursue.
Middle School for High School Credit
There are several options for students who want to take a middle school course to earn high school credit while exploring a specific career path with hands-on, project-based learning. These courses have several opportunities to learn outside the classroom through field trips or clubs (CTSOs).
