What are the different types of contracts?

• Probationary:
  Probationary contracts are based on years and consecutive length of experience. Contract-eligible employees with 0-4 years of experience, as well as anyone with a lapse of service, can be on a probationary contract. The district usually issues up to 3 or 4 probationary contracts. After the 3rd probationary contract, you will be eligible for a one-year term educator contract.
• Educator:
  All contracts issued in Dallas ISD are Educator contracts, regardless of position.

What is the deadline for accepting/declining the contract?

Employees will have two weeks from the date the contract is issued to accept or decline it in Oracle.

What will happen if I decline my contract?

If you decline the contract for the next school year, you must complete a Notice of Separation (S-54) and submit to HCM by the deadline.

Who is eligible to receive a contract?

Only full-time, Chapter 21 positions (as defined by the TEA Code) are eligible for contracts. Current contract-eligible positions include: Assistant Principal, Counselor, Campus Instructional Coach, Campus Instructional Facilitator, Diagnostician, Media Specialist, Nurse, Principal, Speech Therapist, Teacher, and Test Coordinator.

Are contracts location specific?

Contracts are not location specific. While the current school name may be included on the cover, the school location has no bearing on the terms of the contract. You can accept the contract even if your location for the current school year has changed.

What does district policy state in regard to contracts?

There are only two types of contracts, probationary and educator term. The type of contract has nonentity with the type of certification you hold. What does the start date mean on the contract?

The contract start dates are generic to represent the school year. Each employee’s actual start date is dependent on their position and will be outlined in their report to work form, assignment letter or Contract Start and End Dates calendar. Are employees on leave eligible for a contract?

Employees currently on leave will not receive a contract, as contracts are only extended to active employees. Once an employee returns from leave, they will have access to their contract if they are in a contract-eligible position.

What are the statutory guidelines related to contract resignation?

Under Chapter 21 of the Texas Education Code, educators have a penalty-free resignation deadline that falls on the 45th day before the 1st day of instruction of the coming school year. For the 2025-2026 school year, the resignation deadline is June 28, 2025. Resignations are generally accepted via the electronic submission process (S-54), using the Oracle log-in, and must be submitted by 11:59 pm, June 28, 2025.

What happens if I receive an error when I try to accept or decline my contract?

If you receive an error message once you have navigated to the DISD Employee Contract Page, please open an IT Support Hub ticket at https://supporthub.dallasisd.org to the following webpage: /Page/35769.

How do I access my contract?

• Click on the Employee Self-Service link
• Near the bottom of the Employee Self -Service list, you will see "DISD Employee Contracts"
• Follow the instructions

Oracle keeps giving me a message stating “you must type your name exactly as it is printed on the contract.” What do I need to do?

Make sure you do not have a space after the last character of your name or the cursor is next to the last character. Tip: You can use the functionality of copy and paste to ensure the name is typed incorrectly.

How do I print a copy of my contract?

Once you have accepted your contract through the DISD Employee Contract Page, you will be able to view and print your contract from MyRecords (Laserfiche) account. Your login information is the same as your EAD information (this is the same information you use when logging on to a district computer).

When I go to DISD View/Print My Contract, I see a message stating "I have no contract with DISD." What do I need to do?

If you have not viewed the DISD Employee Contract and accepted your contract, you will receive this message. Also, if Oracle did not process the acceptance properly, you will see this message. You will need to go back to DISD Employee Contract and accept the contract before you will be able to view/print your contract.

I am a part-time teacher am I eligible to receive a contract?

Only full‐time, Chapter 21 positions (as defined by the Texas Education Code) are eligible for contracts.
