89th Legislative Session
The Texas Legislature meets in Austin from January through May of each odd-numbered year. The 89th Legislative Session began January 14, 2025 and will end on June 2, 2025.

Bill Tracker
Dallas ISD monitors all proposed legislation pertaining to public education and maintains regular contact with lawmakers who represent schools within the district. Bills are categorized by issue, prioritized by potential impact, and followed as they make their way through the process. Only bills that are scheduled for a hearing will be summarized in the bill tracker below.
Dallas ISD is committed to serving as a helpful resource for elected officials as laws are introduced that impact public education.
Dallas ISD has been working with other Texas school districts to create a resource for state lawmakers, policymakers, parents, district team members and the community at large regarding the impact of inflation on school funding. The goal of the Fund Schools First initiative is to present accurate, consistent information using information from the Legislative Budget Board’s Fiscal Size Up report.
Inflation, combined with mandates that have not been fully funded by the state, has had a significant impact on Dallas ISD’s budget.
