Criminal Investigations Division

The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) of the Dallas ISD Police Department is responsible for the detection and investigation of criminal offenses, for the collection and examination of evidence, and for the successful prosecution of crimes committed on or that impact Dallas ISD students, employees, campuses, and/or property. Commonly referred to as CID, the division is comprised of detectives with investigative expertise to address specific issues that affect the community we serve.
Detectives work with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, as well as prosecutors, to investigate criminal offenses, identify offenders, support victims, and ensure cases are thoroughly documented and successfully filed with the district attorney’s office.

The Criminal Investigations Division provides specialized investigative services by:
- Investigating felony and misdemeanor offenses affecting Dallas ISD students, staff, campuses, and district property.
- Conducting interviews, collecting and analyzing evidence, and preparing criminal cases for prosecution.
- Investigating crimes involving violence, theft, fraud, narcotics, cyber-related offenses, and other complex criminal activity.
- Assisting Patrol and Campus Police officers with follow-up investigations and case management.
- Collaborating with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies on joint investigations and information sharing.
- Coordinating with prosecutors and the judicial system throughout the investigative process.
- Supporting threat assessments involving criminal activity or potential threats to the school community.
- Utilizing technology, digital evidence, and intelligence to strengthen investigative outcomes.
The Criminal Investigations Division utilizes proven investigative techniques, advanced technology, and collaborative partnerships to identify offenders, preserve evidence, and resolve criminal cases efficiently. Investigators work diligently to ensure every investigation is conducted with integrity, professionalism, and respect for the rights of victims, witnesses, and suspects. Through collaboration, communication, and accountability, the division promotes trust and confidence within the Dallas ISD community.
