The Police Communications Division serves as the central communications hub for the Dallas ISD Police Department, providing critical dispatch and emergency communication services that support the safety and security of students, staff, visitors and district facilities. Operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the division coordinates the timely deployment of police personnel and resources while ensuring officers receive accurate and critical information during emergency and non-emergency incidents.

As the first point of contact for many callers, Police Communications professionals deliver prompt, professional, and compassionate service during times of need.

What We Do

The Police Communications Division is responsible for:

Receiving and processing emergency and non-emergency calls for police service.
Dispatching police officers and coordinating field responses throughout the district.
Monitoring police radio communications and maintaining continuous contact with field personnel.
Prioritizing calls for service to ensure the most urgent incidents receive immediate attention.
Coordinating communications during critical incidents, emergencies, and special events.
Providing timely and accurate information to responding officers to enhance situational awareness.
Maintaining communication with local, state, and federal public safety agencies during joint operations.
Supporting department operations through effective records management and communication systems.

Effective communication is the foundation of public safety. The Police Communications Division ensures that officers receive the information they need to respond quickly, safely, and efficiently to incidents across Dallas ISD.

By managing multiple communication channels and coordinating resources in real time, dispatch personnel help improve response times, enhance officer safety, and support informed decision-making during routine calls and critical emergencies.

Police Communications professionals are highly trained in emergency call handling, radio operations, and incident coordination. Working closely with Campus Police, Police Patrol, Criminal Investigations, Traffic Enforcement, Emergency Management, and other public safety partners, the division helps ensure a coordinated and effective response to every situation.
