Recruitment Policies
Officers at Dallas ISD Police Department are committed to our students, parents, and community. The Officers work towards creating a safe working and educational environment, and work towards protecting the students in our district. The department seeks police officers committed to public service, professionalism, being a team leader, understanding human behavior, and taking pride in a job well done.
Basic Qualifications
All applicants for Police Cadet must be 21 years of age, have a high school diploma or United States equivalency certificate. College / university hours from an accredited institution are preferred. All applicants comply with the hiring standards set forth in the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Requirements for Peace Officer licensing. The department accepts applications from persons who hold a current TCOLE peace officer license as well as those who do not. When applying, ensure that you apply for a Police Cadet if you do not have a license and Police Officer if you do. Click here for a list of TCOLE licensed law enforcement academies.The employment process will begin with a physical agility test which consists of:

One minute sit-ups
Additional hiring procedures include:

Interview and scenario-based writing exercises

Medical examination, including drug testing

If you are ready to get involved in school policing and want to make a difference in quality education, the Dallas ISD Police Department needs you!
- If you have a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) license, you should apply for the Police Officer job by clicking HERE and selecting: Police Officer (235 days).
- If you have never attended (or attended but not graduated) from a TCOLE-licensed police academy, then you should apply for the Police Cadet jobs by clicking HERE and select: Police Officer Cadet (235 days).
- If you are interested in applying for the DPS Commissioned Level 3 Security Officer position, then you should click HERE and select: Commissioned Security Officer (220 days).
- If you are a retired Police Officer and are interested in applying for the Armed Security Officer position, then you should apply for the position by clicking HERE and select: Armed Security Officer (220 days).
Benefits Package

Starting salary for cadets is $50,000 annually while attending the police academy.
- The salary for licensed police officers starts at $70,000.
- An additional stipend is granted for higher levels of TCOLE certification.

About the Job
After completing a mandatory field training program, officers will be assigned to either the patrol or campus services division.
