How To Pay For College
How Do I Pay For College?
What is Financial Aid?
Watch for a quick overview to learn how to fund your college career!
The cost to attend college varies by institution, but there are several sources of financial aid (money specifically for college) available to students. The primary way to find out what types of financial aid you are eligible to receive is to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA). You should complete the FAFSA or the TASFA, not both. Which one is right for you? Find out below.
Financial aid application (FAFSA or TASFA) opens December 1st, 2024, for seniors but you can order any tax transcripts now.
FAFSA
Por favor, consulta con el asesor o consejero de tu campus universitario para obtener ayuda con las solicitudes de ayuda financiera y becas.
TASFA
Seniors please see your campus’s college advisor or counselor for assistance with TASFA submissions.

Students who are not eligible for federal financial aid (FAFSA), but are classified as Texas residents, can fill out the Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA) in English or en Español. Students can then mail a copy of the TASFA to the financial aid office of each university to which they applied (Online submission is currently not available as of February 2024).
Here's a list of colleges accepting the TASFA.
- Order Tax Transcripts since many colleges require them for TASFA applications.
