TEA State Academies

The Texas Reading Academies (House Bill 3) and Mathematics Academies (House Bill 2) are required statewide professional development programs from the Texas Education Agency that strengthen Kinder through 3rd grade instruction in reading and math. The academies are aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).

All kindergarten through third grade teachers, including special education teachers, principals, and assistant principals, are required to attend the Reading Academies during their first year of employment in a Texas public school.

Dallas ISD will launch the Texas Mathematics Academies during the 2026-2027 school year as a pilot with seven vertical teams: Carter, Conrad, Pinkston, Roosevelt, Samuel, Spruce, and Wilmer-Hutchins. For math Academies, all K-2 teachers, third grade math teachers, principals, assistant principals, and math instructional facilitators are required to participate.

If you have not yet completed the Reading Academies, you must complete that requirement before you can be enrolled in the Math Academies.
