Racial Equity Priorities
The REO provides a commitment of supports to ensure student access to safe and high-quality facilities.
Resource Centers are a response to the 2020 Equity in Bond planning and programming. Dallas ISD recognizes that numerous factors outside of the school day affect a student’s ability to focus and thrive during the school day. In partnership with CPAL, the district utilized a resource index (CRI) to identify Lincoln, Pinkston, Roosevelt, and Spruce as our most under-resourced neighborhoods . Residents, elected officials, and campus leaders engaged with the Racial Equity Office to express their opinions and desires on what prioritized offerings were necessary to help their children thrive at school. Priorities were then categorized by emerging themes of Community, Economics, Education, Family, and/or Health needs. The district continues to engage stakeholders in the design process, programming needs, and partner identification. The Lincoln Feeder Center will open at JJ Rhoads in the spring of 2024, with Pinkston scheduled to open in the Fall of 2024 at the West Dallas STEM School. Roosevelt and Spruce will open in the Fall of 2025 at John Lewis Social Justice and Spruce HS, respectively.
Facility & Location Pillar Metric
Pillar 6 Metric: For this pillar, we assess the condition of students’ campuses, measured as the percentage of students who attend a learning-ready facility. This is measured using our facilities condition index, which assesses the physical condition of Dallas ISD buildings.
Target: We aspire for 100% of students to attend school in a facility that meets our learning-ready standard.
