Mahjong

For the 2026–2027 school year, the Mahjong program is available to comprehensive middle schools and multilevel campuses serving grades 6–8. The program is not available to K–6 campuses.

Coaches must be designated in Oracle by their campus principal.

Attendance at the Fall Coach Workshop is required for Mahjong program participation. Coaches will receive $250 as outlined in their Coach Agreement for participation.

Campuses without a coach in attendance will not be eligible to participate in the Mahjong program for the 2026-2027 school year.

Supplemental pay of $1,000 payable in split payments after participation in each district workshop and tournament has been completed and recorded. A minimum of 4 students must participate in each event to receive the full stipend payment.

To support the launch of this exciting program, participating campuses will receive Mahjong kits* and curriculum resources designed to help students master this unique game and compete with confidence!

*Coaches are expected to manage the inventory and storage of all Dallas ISD Student Activities Department equipment and supplies.

Campus Mahjong programs should have a minimum of 4 student participants.

Each campus will receive equipment to support up to 8 students. To account for absences and maintain full gameplay, it is recommended that campuses recruit approximately 12 students.
