The SmartRide Card Transportation program uses the Edulog student ridership system that provides critical information to Dallas ISD related to student safety, but also provides parents with peace-of-mind knowing when and where their child boarded or exited the bus, to and from school.

Edulog uses student ridership cards and STCP technology. An STCP card reader is mounted to the bus and when a student’s assigned card is held close to the reader, a scan is registered. Parents are notified in the Edulog Parent Portal app that their student has scanned on or off the bus, which bus, and where the bus was located when the scan took place.

A very limited amount of information will be printed on the SmartRide card, including the student’s last name, first initial, ID# and campus. The card will record the student's first and last name, date, time, bus number, stop location, and campus. This data will be sent to a secure database that is only accessible to the Dallas ISD Student Transportation Services Department and you, the parent.

The only information stored on the SmartRide card is a 32-bit card number. No identifiable information such as ID number, name, grade, campus, social security number, etc., is stored on the card RFID chip.

Your child's school will distribute the cards along with a lanyard, which must be attached to your child's book bag.

Yes, to foster increased student safety and security and provide a more efficient process of loading and unloading our buses, SmartRide card will be required for all elementary riders. If a student does not have their SmartRide card at the AM bus stop, the driver must log them in manually (by hand). This is more time-consuming than students scanning in and can delay a route.

As soon as students receive their SmartRide Card, they will be required to use it for transportation to and from school. A lanyard will be provided, which must be attached to your child’s book bag.

Students are allowed to ride the bus if they forget, lose, or damage their SmartRide card until they receive a replacement. To get a replacement card, please contact Transportation Services via Let's Talk! platform.

Students will keep their SmartRide cards for the upcoming school year unless they enroll in a new Dallas ISD school. The SmartRide cards will remain a requirement for their daily transportation to and from school.
