Mrs. Yazmine Cruz

Yazmine Cruz is serving Dallas ISD as a Principal at Edwin J. Kiest Elementary since 2014. Since her appointment at Kiest and throughout her professional career, she has dedicated every day in enhancing the educational experiences of her students and engaging in collaborative work with the entire school community.

Mrs. Cruz began her career in education in 1995 as a 5th grade bilingual teacher through the Region X Alternative Certification Program. She worked as an elementary school teacher for 9 years in various school districts, including Dallas ISD, before taking her role as an Assistant Principal in Lewisville ISD from 2004-2013. In 2013, she re- joined Dallas ISD in the Leadership Development Fellows Academy.

Mrs. Cruz received her Bachelors of Art degree from Universidad Sagrado Corazon in Puerto Rico, where she majored in Communications before earning her Masters degree in Educational Leadership from Texas Woman’s University in 2004.

Cruz is a member of the Association of Hispanic School Administrators (AHSA) and Dallas School Administrators Association (DSAA).

Mrs. Cruz has been married to Miguel for 32 years and when she is away from school, she enjoys spending as much time as possible with her family and her 4 grandchildren.
