Mrs. Casey Stewart
Originally, I am from Muskogee, Oklahoma. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Previously, I taught for 8 years in San Bernardino USD, Plano ISD, and Mesquite ISD.
I earned my Master’s degree in Counseling from Texas A&M-Commerce. This is my 12th year as a Counselor in Dallas ISD. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, a National Certified Counselor, and a Registered Play Therapist. Currently, I live in East Dallas with my husband and two sons.
Philosophy:It is difficult for me to communicate what I know, believe, and have experienced about counseling children in a few words. I believe the problems children experience do not live separate from who they are. As a counselor, I have to be open to receive the subtle messages they need to share and accept their individual uniqueness. Children have their own personalities and experience feelings and reactions just the same as adults and we cannot discount their experiences. All children have dignity and worth. I help them experience, explore, appreciate, and create their own world through counseling.

Mrs. Laurie Freelove
I grew up in Rockwall and graduated from Rockwall High School. I then went on to study Theatre at the University of North Texas. I ended up transferring to the University of Texas at Dallas where I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Art and Performance.
I was a company member at Moonstruck Theatre Company before deciding to go into education. My teaching experience was at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School where I taught 1st Grade Reading and Pre-Kindergarten. I found that I was far more interested in the emotional wellbeing of students than in their academic wellbeing and decided to pursue counseling.
I earned my Master of Science in Counseling and Development from Texas Woman’s University. I also became a Certified School Counselor, as well as a Licensed Professional Counselor. I started working in Dallas ISD as an Elementary Counselor in 2005. I spent 5 years as an Elementary Counselor and 8 as a High School Counselor (the last seven at Booker T. Washington HSPVA). Alex Sanger Preparatory is my first involvement in Middle School and I am so grateful for the experience.
I have been married to my husband and best friend Kenneth for 24 years and we have an amazing daughter named Matilda who is 17 and a senior at BookerT in Dance and Film. We have 3 dogs (Ellie, Peri and Peach) who we adore. We also have 2 turtles (Pikachu and Yertle) who we love as well. I enjoy spending time laughing with family and friends, reading good books and being out in nature as much as possible.
