Go Green: Recycle Your Cartons

Go Green: Recycle Your Cartons
  • Students and families are being challenged to make a pledge to Recycle Right & Waste Less through Dallas ISD’s Milk Carton Recycling Initiative. The initiative sponsored by Dallas ISD Energy Management, Dallas ISD Food and Child Nutrition Services, City of Dallas Sanitation Services Zero Waste, Dairy Max and the National Carton Council, supports schools’ milk carton recycling programs. The purpose of the initiative is to:

    • Increase awareness and commitment both at school and home to recycle cartons.
    • Promote drinking versus discarding milk at school lunch to decrease food waste.

Charles Rice Learning Center, Stone Wall Jackson Elementary, Lorenzo De Zavala Elementary, John B. Hood Middle School and William Hawley Atwell Law Academy will be competing for a chance to win an exciting assembly featuring Dallas Cowboy’s mascot Rowdy and recognition from the City of Dallas for their commitment to recycle. Contest runs February 29-March 11, 2016. School that return the highest percentage of Pledge Cards wins.
