• The Career Management System (CMS)
In Dallas ISD, Central staff play a key role in raising student achievement by supporting and empowering the work of our campuses. To raise student achievement in Dallas ISD, each of the district’s 20,000 employees must be working toward a shared vision, focused on the same outcomes, and striving for excellence. The Career Management System (CMS) is a tool for defining, supporting and rewarding excellence for central, support, and non-instructional staff. The Performance Management Team is available to assist with any questions.

The 2017-2018 CMS Appraisal Cycle continues with the Mid-Year Review Process to all CMS-eligible employees on Tuesday, January 9, 2018. Frequently asked questions regarding the Mid-Year Review process are outlined below:

What are the required steps in the Mid-Year Review process?

The Mid-Year Review is comprised of the online Employee Self-Review and in-person Mid-Year Review Conference.  Note that for the 2017-2018 appraisal cycle, appraisers will NOT award rating during the mid-year conference process.  Please see the CMS Guidebook for information about the CMS Annual appraisal cycle.

Is an in-person conference with the appraiser required as a portion of the Mid-Year review process?

Yes.  An in-person conference should be scheduled by the appraiser to review the employee’s progress, Self-Review, and to address barriers and roadblocks to achieving results and impact.

My employee is new to the district or position.  Should I complete a Mid-Year Review?

Employees hired on or before January 9, 2018, will be assigned a self-review task during the Mid-Year review process.  Employees hired after this date will not require a mid-year review.

I am being rated under the Leader of Other rubric, but I do not formally manage others.  How should I rate indicators that do not apply to me?

Job title and position determine employee placement on the Dallas ISD Leadership rubric.  In cases where a position may manage a program or initiative rather than direct reports, please select No Rating (N/R) in the rating scale for applicable indicators.  Indicators marked N/R will not count toward the overall score in the End of Year Review.

I am an appraiser/manager, and my list of direct reports is not correct. How can I change this?

CMS feeds from Oracle. To make an update to assigned appraisers, please use the DISD Online Evaluation Supervisor function in Oracle, or request an update to your assigned appraisers by emailing careermanagement@dallasisd.org.

Where can I access technical resourcs for completing the fall task online in Cornerstone?
