    Satchel grew up in Brooklyn but spent his teenage years in the New Jersey suburbs. He has a bachelor's degree in English Education from the University of Delaware and completed his student teaching placement nearby at Thomas McKean High School in Wilmington.

    After graduation, he moved to Italy to complete a TEFL certification program with Via Lingua CTEFL. He was then offered a job at the American Language Center in Florence Italy, where he taught from September 2013 to July 2014. While living in Florence, he also performed most nights, at various pubs and night clubs (and occasionally in the street outside of a local record store), playing percussion and guitar, and singing cover songs to the tourists.

    He returned to his job at a Hoboken based floral design and event company in August, and moved to New Orleans at the end of the year. Before moving to Dallas, he was the Executive Assistant to the CEO of a charter school network called Collegiate Academies.
