Phone: 972-925-1295Eleanor Mathis is a Dallas native and graduate of Booker T. Washington. She earned her B.A. in Liberal Arts with a double major in History of Mathematics and Science and Philosophy from St. John's College, and her M.A. in Secondary Education with an emphasis on Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Mississippi, where she was a member of the Mississippi Teacher Corps.
She has worked for education non-‐profits and as an independent artist creating mixed media maps, but her passion and career calling is teaching in the high school math classroom, which she has done for 5 years. Eleanor is passionate about showing students the beauty and benefit that underlies the study of mathematics-‐ the development of a logical framework and problem solving skill-‐set that translates to all pursuits in life, including the arts.
When she’s not in the classroom, Eleanor enjoys running at White Rock Lake, taking advantage of local dog parks with her mutt Jack, cheering on the Ole Miss football team, taking a dance class, and reading a good book. She is thrilled to return to her alma mater as a math teacher and life-long supporter of the arts.
