    About Tom C. Gooch

Tom C. Gooch (1880-1952) was the president, publisher, and editor in chief of the Daily Times-Herald (later the Dallas Times Herald), and the grandson of Mrs. Mabel Gilbert, the first white woman to settle in Dallas County.  Mr. Gooch joined the Daily Times-Herald staff as a reporter-cartoonist in 1901 and rapidly rose in the newspaper ranks. A prominent citizen of Dallas, he was a director of the State Fair of Texas and the Dallas Metropolitan Opera. He also served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of KRLS radio. Tom C. Gooch stands as a model of the impacts that we know our scholars will have on the world.
