    School Counselor

Thank you for taking the time to visit my Counseling page.  I am thrilled to serve as DeGolyer's School Counselor.  I have served in this role since 2018.  I am a proud Dallas ISD alumna, having graduated from North Dallas High School.  I have served in various roles in my 25 years as an educator.  I have taught PreK, Kindergarten, 1st and 4th grades as a bilingual, dual language teacher or ESL teacher.  I received my Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies degree from East Texas State University (A&M Commerce now) and my Master of Arts in Counseling from The University of Texas at San Antonio.  I love being a student and hope to return to graduate school in the near future.  I am truly a life-long learner and always excited about learning new things and growing professionally.

I am passionate about working with students and helping them grow personally and academically.   It is very rewarding to witness them grow into responsible, confident problem-solving scholars.  Each has their own unique strengths and talents.  I especially enjoy assisting them in goal setting for the future and laying the foundation for what they hope to pursue and become as young adults.

I believe Social Emotional Learning is a critical piece of their school experience now more than ever.  Acquiring and putting into practice the strategies that will aid them in developing a growth mindset and building up their resilience to overcome life's challenges moving forward.

Lastly, I enjoy sharing my life's joys and experiences with our scholars.  The things I am most passionate about are my family (I have 5 children), traveling, running and reading.

Despite the challenges presented by the pandemic, I anticipate a productive year and look forward to continued learning and growth with our new and returning Dolphins and their families.  Dolphins give 100% ALL DAY, EVERY DAY!!
