Before students are gone for summer, please make sure each student has his/her books turned in.  Review our End-of-Year Overdues to check for missing items.  Students are sorted by teacher last name and are listed by student ID. 
 
Summer Reading Programs
 
Students are encouraged to participate in any or all of several summer reading programs, all of which earn the student free goodies!  Here are a few of our favorites...

 Students track their reading for June and/or July, and can earn $5 Bookworm bucks for each month.
Print your Summer Reading Log, and remember to print 2 copies! That's $10 worth of goodies!

 Students read 8 books and earn a free book from a selected (and great!) list of grade-appropriate books!  Keep track of your reading, share your favorite, and see the list of free book choices using their reading journal in English or Spanish.

Dallas Public Library - Mayor's Summer Reading Club
 
 Students and families can participate in many activities at the Dallas Public Library branches and can earn a variety of free rewards by reading 20 minutes a day and logging minutes online. Visit Mata's library or any Dallas Public Library branch to sign up or for help logging minutes.

Scholastic's Summer Reading Challenge encourages kids to read and log minutes online to unlock weekly digital rewards, such as games and printable activities.

These are just a few of the many options to keep kids reading and prevent "the summer slide".  Check local businesses, such as kids consignment stores, local shops, restaurants, etc. to see if they participate in  summer reading incentive programs. Reading always pays off, but free incentives for summer reading are an added bonus!
