    Summer Reading Programs
     
    Students are encouraged to participate in any or all of several summer reading programs, some of which earn the student free goodies!  Here are a few of our favorites...

    Half-Price Books - Summer Reading Camp
     
     Check out crafts, suggested activities, book recommendations and in-store activities for kids to enjoy.  Kids can complete reading activities for fun and $5 Bookworm Bucks from Half Price Books!

    Barnes & Noble Summer Reading
     
     Barnes and Noble - Summer Reading Program
     
     Students in grades 1-6 read 8 books and earn a free book from a selected (and great!) list of grade-appropriate books!  Keep track of your reading, share your favorite part, and see the list of free book choices using their reading journal in English or Spanish.

     Mayor's Summer Reading Program
     
    Dallas Public Library - Mayor's Summer Reading Program
     
     Students and families can participate in activities virtually through the Dallas Public Library branches and can earn a variety of free rewards by reading 20 minutes a day and logging minutes online or in print.

    Scholastic
     

    Scholastic offers Scholastic Home Base, a free digital destination which offers full books, live events, printable activity sheets and games. Kids track their reading to earn rewards and unlock book donations. Find more information here.

    Pizza Hut
     
    The Pizza Hut Book It! program offers personal pizza prizes for reading, just like during the school year! Also offered are tips and activities online. Check out the program, sign up and get your reading log here.

    These are just a few of the many options to keep kids reading and prevent "the summer slide".  Check local businesses, such as kids consignment stores, local shops, restaurants, etc. to see if they participate in  summer reading incentive programs. Reading always pays off, but free incentives for summer reading are an added bonus!
