At Lee A. McShan Jr. Elementary School, our mission is to achieve academic excellence in our diverse learners in an environment of mutual respect. We encourage our students to model good character and use learning as power and fuel for life.
McShan Elementary has implemented many innovative programs, research-based instructional practices, and enrichment activities to increase student academic performance. The programs include Scientific Learning, ST Math, Study Island, and the 21st Century after-school program.
The school has a parent center coordinated by the community liaison who connects with parents and the community to support student success. Parents are valued partners and are encouraged to participate in school activities. The liaison hosts weekly support workshops for parents on subjects from nutrition to tips for homework. Other parent involvement opportunities include assisting in classrooms, participating in PAC, and serving on the Site-Based Decision Making committee.
