• About the Principal

Ms. Ashley Toole comes to E.D. Walker with a strong vision, proven track record of increasing student achievement, and a commitment to improving educational outcomes for all students. She is excited to take the baton from Holly Wallace and see that Walker continues on its path of excellence. Ashley firmly believes that a great teacher is the number one difference maker for students and that we should equip every student with the skills needed to attend a 4-year College or University and pursue their passions. She gives and seeks feedback, relentlessly collects and analyzes data, and believes in collaborative decision-making with her teams.

Ms. Toole is entering her 10th year in Dallas ISD. She started her career as a special education inclusion teacher at Long Middle School and then served the campus as a math and science instructional coach and an Assistant Principal where they became the first International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme in Dallas ISD. For the next four years, she was an Assistant Principal at Spruce HS. At both Long and Spruce, Ms. Toole greatly increased student achievement and left a lasting, positive impact on the culture of the schools. For the last 18 months, Ms. Toole has been a Network Coordinator in the Northwest working alongside Executive Directors, visiting and supporting over 30 schools with systems, data and professional development. Ms. Toole is grateful for each experience which has inspired her leadership mantra: Live and lead with joy, extend trust to staff, students and community, create sustainable change by building capacity in others and advocate for our kids by choosing courage over comfort every minute of every day.

Ms. Toole is highly competitive, hates to lose, and can be counted on to turn everything into a game or competition. During her free time, she enjoys reading, playing beach volleyball, golfing, ping pong, travelling with her husband Matt, spending time with her two dogs Finn and Cosby, and playing board games on rainy days.

Principal Toole is extremely excited to return to Middle School, where she began her career and looks forward to becoming a partner in the great work ahead.
