Mr. Arnoldo Zuniga, Principal
In 2003, Mr. Arnoldo Zuniga joined the Dallas Independent School District (DISD) to begin his career at Herbert Marcus Elementary, where he taught third, fourth, and fifth grades. Four years later, he was named Assistant Principal at Leonides Gonzalez Cigarroa Md. Elementary. Mr. Zuniga served in the role of Assistant Principal for 3 years, before being named principal at Leslie A. Stemmons Elementary. In July 2017, Mr. Zuniga was named Principal of the Dallas Environmental Science Academy (DESA), a place where his beliefs are mirrored, “On time, on task and on a mission to provide and achieve academic excellence for all …with no excuses.”
Mr. Zuniga’s upbringing and life lessons began in his hometown of El Paso in the far western corner of Texas, where he attended schools in the El Paso Independent School District, and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Texas in Psychology with a minor in Biology. Mr. Zuniga worked hard and earned his master’s degree in Educational Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2008.
Mr. Zuniga views a collaborative school environment as the key to creating successful teachers and students. He believes partnerships with parents and community are essential to enriching the experiences of students, staff and families at DESA.
