Born in McAllen, a small town in south Texas, Mr. Garcia attended Memorial High School and had an avid interest in science. After graduation he attended the University of Texas at Austin and majored in biochemistry with a research project in nutritional chemistry. He lived in Austin, Texas for 12 years before moving to McAllen to become a teacher. For the past 11 years he has taught at Veterans Memorial high school in Mission, Texas. It was while working at VMHS that he obtained a masters from the University of Texas Pan Am. He has taught IPC, chemistry, physics as well as AP chemistry and AP physics. In addition to those classes he has coached several science competitions including UIL, Science Bowl, Science Olympiad, and Master Minds.
During his off times Mr. Garcia enjoys a few hobbies. He has many aquariums and keeps cichlids, puffers and gobies. He enjoys reading a wide variety of things but typically likes science or science fiction genres. He is more of a Star Trek fan than Star Wars, likes to occasionally play Starcraft and is a huge comic book fan.
