Term Expires 2019
Jaime Resendez is a U.S. Army combat veteran and attorney licensed to practice law by the State Bar of Texas and before the U.S. District Court in the Northern District of Texas. He was elected to his first term on the Dallas ISD Board of Trustees in May 2016. Resendez attended and graduated from Dallas ISD schools, including R.C. Buckner and Julius Dorsey elementary schools, E.B. Comstock Middle School, and Skyline High School. Today, he represents trustee District 4, which includes 23 schools in Southeast Dallas County and encompasses the same community where he grew up and attended school.
The son of Mexican immigrants, Resendez enlisted in the U.S. Army as an engineer before high school graduation and served for eight years, including a yearlong tour of duty in Baghdad, Iraq. Resendez notes, “The realities of warfare imbued in me a new esteem for life, a passion for education, and awareness of the importance of sacrifice for the sake of a higher purpose. For me, nothing is more gratifying than improving the lives of others in need.”
Resendez earned his law degree from The University of Texas School of Law. Prior to attending law school, he graduated with honors from the University of North Texas (Dallas Campus) and Eastfield Community College. A fluent Spanish-speaker, Resendez is committed to serving his community and is actively involved in a variety of organizations and professional associations, among them chambers of commerce, the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program, the Dallas Bar Association, and the Dallas Hispanic Bar Association where he serves as a member of the organization’s Pro Bono Committee. He has received numerous awards, medals, and scholarships throughout his military and educational careers.
As a Dallas ISD graduate and the father of a young daughter who attends a district school, Resendez has a vested interest in our schools' success and believes this district is primed to become one of the premier urban school districts in the country.
