Paul Laurence Dunbar Learning Center is located in the heart of South Dallas near The State Fair of Texas. Paul L. Dunbar Learning Center has 574 students in grades Pre-K through 5th grade. The original school was built in 1939. It was called Fair Park Elementary School. The school's name was changed again to T. G. Terry Elementary School in 1957, then to Paul L. Dunbar Learning Center. Paul L. Dunbar is proud to have made Texas Monthly magazine's list of Best Public Schools. Dunbar scholars performed better on the Math portion of the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills than did their counterparts at other schools around the state.
