Attorney Crawford B. Bunkley Jr. was an attorney who fought landmark legal battles in education. He was a founding member of the J. L. Turner Legal Society in Dallas. He served as an attorney for the NAACP in its suit to integrate the Dallas Independent School District. The federal ruling in that case began desegregation of the Dallas Schools. Mr. Bunkley represented African American teachers in their effort to receive equal pay for equal work. Attorney Bunkley was one of the three lawyers of record in the Sweatt vs. Painter case to desegregate the University of Texas Law School.
