Dr. Ernesto Delgado

Ernesto Delgado began his career in education as a dual-language kindergarten teacher. He entered education as a second career after being inspired by the educators he supported in his role as a corporate, regional manager. He is a proud product of Dallas ISD; he attended Stephen C. Foster Elementary, Edward H. Cary Middle School, and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High school in northwest Dallas.

Dr. Delgado obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Management and Computer Information Systems with a Minor in Music Performance from Texas A&M University-Commerce. He obtained a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in Education Administration and Policy from Texas A&M University-Commerce earning a ¡Maestros! Graduate Fellowship.

He has held numerous leadership positions, including chairperson of Proactive Behavior Management, champion of Social Emotional Learning, and facilitator and presenter of Curriculum and Instruction in Dual Language. He also was responsible for implementing Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People school-wide and trained staff on healthy relationships using the Sanford Harmony social-emotional learning program. As an administrator, he was responsible for designing and implementing best instructional practices with a restorative practice approach and maintained a high-fidelity environment for academic success.

Dr. Ernesto Delgado is the first person in his family’s history to attend college. He quickly learned and understood the value and importance of education. Mr. Delgado became passionate about leadership through coaching his students to have high expectations for themselves and being held accountable for their own learning. He finds that the connections educators make with their students are the first step in understanding their social and emotional needs. He recognizes the importance of including students’ cultural references in all aspects of learning as part of the learning process for growth and development.

Dr. Delgado enjoys long-distance running, the fine arts, and literature. He enjoys traveling and being immersed in other cultures and learning about the various customs and diversity in food and music, which inspires him to try new recipes. In his spare time, he mentors and supports aspiring educators and leaders with professional development and self-efficacy.

As Assistant Principal at School for the Talented and Gifted in Pleasant Grove, his goals are to ensure that scholars leave the campus confident with the ability to model lifelong learning, and aligned with the campus mission of “Achieving with effort, excelling with persistence.”
