Carrie McDevitt was born in Illinois and grew up in El Paso, Texas. She was involved in theatre, dance and choir from a young age, as well as ligning up her stuffed animals (and baby sister) in front of her small blackboard and teaching them math and other life lessons. Throughout high school she performed in many plays and musicals, both in school and in the community. Carrie graduated from the University of Texas in Austinin 2008 with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Mathematics and a minor in secondary education through the UTeach program. While obtaining her degree, Carrie worked for Austin Community College tutoring students in the learning lab. After college, Carrie began her teaching career at Pflugerville High School, where she worked pationately to help students develop an interest and respect for mathematics. She has been helping shape young minds for nine years. In her free time, Carrie volunteering at the Dallas Fraternal Order of Eagles #3108, creating jewelry, practicing yoga, and spending time with family and friends. She is excited to relocate to Dallas and be a part of the Booker T. Washington HSPVA family!
