Cara Hilt joins the faculty with more than 20 years of diverse experience in the fashion industry, including concept development, clothing design, sourcing, cost management, supplier oversight, and marketing. She has a depth of experience in both men's and women's clothing, having designed products for retailers throughout the US, such as Lane Bryant, Federated, JCP, Haggar, Levi’s. She received her bachelor's degree in Fashion Design from the University of Cincinnati College of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning, and has added expertise in the areas of sustainable materials and technology based enhancements. Over Cara’s career she has travelled extensively through Europe for trend and concept design, and to many countries like India, Bangladesh, and China working directly with mills and factories. She has also pursued jewelry making, mixed media art, marketing, and styling. Through the years, she has particularly enjoyed her role as mentor to college students who are preparing to enter the work force. Her goals are to ensure that students compile an effective portfolio and achieve a broad view of the fashion industry—its opportunities and trends and the many roles one can fill in this ever-changing industry.
