• General Information

William B Travis Academy/Vanguard for the Academically Talented and Gifted houses two of Dallas ISD's magnet schools. It serves students in grades four and five in the vanguard and grades six through eight in the academy. Students must apply to the school, and admission is based on students' academic achievement. Both schools are rated exemplary by the Texas Education Agency.

Travis has become a premier destination for children and families from across the city—a hub for accelerated education, community spirit, and excellence. The faculty provides enhanced and challenging curricula in language arts, foreign languages, math, science, social studies, humanities, and computer science. Fine arts instruction at Travis includes band, orchestra, drama, and art. In addition, the students have the opportunity to participate in local and state math and science competitions, Destination Imagination, and foreign language competitions.

The student body is ethnically diverse, which affords opportunities for children to experience an enriched and cooperative environment. Individuality and teamwork are both celebrated in creative ways that stimulate active and inquisitive minds. We are committed to remain one of the most recognized academic schools in Texas.
