Hello Readers and Explorers! I'm Mrs. Canales and I am so excited to be your new librarian at Hillcrest High School! This 2020-2021 school year is off to a, let's just say...weird start, however I hope to still meet everyone virtually to help you with researching and placing physical copies of books on hold. I'm sure you are swamped with all this change and new ways of learning, but always know that books are waiting for you when you need that escape from this craziness.
Okay! About me, I have been a teacher for 15 years and a librarian for 2 years. I received my B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Houston (Go Coogs!) and my M.S. in Library and Information Science from the University of North Texas (Go Eagles!). I have a huge passion for reading and my favorite genres are fantasy, manga, realistic fiction, and mystery. YA books are my favorite and I can't wait to share the current books that are out there for you!
I live in the Dallas zip with a husband, two huskies, and two kitties. My dogs have their own Insta and I am not ashamed! My hobbies include reading, PC gaming, walking my dogs, going to White Rock Lake with my dogs, and currently wasting time on Animal Crossing New Horizons. Pre-pandemic my husband enjoyed traveling to New York to catch Broadway shows and exploring Manhattan. The last plays we saw were Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and To Kill a Mockingbird, both were pretty epic!
