Redistricting 2011

As part of the redistricting process at Dallas ISD, the Board of Trustees has directed the redistricting consultants to develop alternative plans that illustrate different approaches to rebalancing the population among the nine single-member trustee districts.

The purpose of these plans is to demonstrate to the community alternative means of drawing the districts within the guidelines and criteria adopted by the district for redistricting and to stimulate discussion and suggestions from the community.

The trustees welcome your input and are scheduling public hearings around the district to receive comments and suggestions.  Hearings will be held Aug. 1, 4, 9, and 16, 2011.  Please keep checking this site for the times and locations of the hearings in your neighborhood, which will be posted shortly.

After the public hearings, the Board of Trustees will meet to consider the various illustrative plans and the comments and suggestions from the public and will then adopt a redistricting plan for the school district to be utilized in elections starting next year.

Voting Tabulation District (VTD) Maps and Reports

The following VTD Maps (in two size formats) are provided to facilitate plan drawing by the public.  The Maps depict all VTDs (Election Precincts) in Dallas ISD. The existing trustee district boundaries are depicted in red on the Maps for your convenience.  The accompanying report contains population and demographic information for each VTD in the district.    Some VTDs on the

Dallas ISD boundary are split by the boundary line.  The population of these split VTDs in the report does not contain population from outside the district.

The Maps and Reports can be utilized to draw alternative proposals for redistricting the trustee districts by adding the population figures from the Report for each district. To facilitate the process, interested persons may reference the population charts in the initial assessment report or other plan reports for illustrative plans on this website to obtain base population for existing or proposed trustee districts.
