• Dear Hector P. Garcia Family and Community,

What an honor is it to serve you as principal of Garcia. I have been an educator for the past 21 years, of which I have been a part of Dallas ISD for the past 14 years. My greatest honor has been in the trust given to me by the community to lead Hector P. Garcia Middle School.

I am a proud graduate of Baylor University and even my time as a college student, I knew that teaching was my calling in life. Being able to serve in Dallas ISD has been quite an honor.

I have served as a high school teacher, campus instructional coach, grant coordinator, and associate principal in Dallas ISD. During my time in Dallas, I have been given the opportunity to be part of the innovation and transformation of Dallas ISD. As a teacher and instructional coach, I was able to be part of the transformation of a struggling high school.  As an associate principal, I have been able to move two National Academy Foundation programs to “distinguished academies” being named model NAF academies in the state. I also spearheaded the work in creating the college-credit mechatronics pathway for the STEM magnet program and later in developing the foundation for the collegiate mechatronics pathway.

I believe in the potential of our students, and I am committed to the vision of Garcia Middle School: to transform our school into an exemplary campus and to prepare our students so that they are successful for college and beyond.

Just this year, we have embarked on our journey to be the first International Baccalaureate secondary school in Oak Cliff. Garcia was the Innovation Engine Award winner and selected as a Dallas ISD Choice School as an International Baccalaureate candidacy school. What an opportunity for our students and community!

I am a proud Javelina and honored to serve our school and our community. I look forward to working together with the Garcia community as we continue to be courageous in the steps we take to transform Garcia to an exemplary campus.

    Sincerely,

    David Lee, Principal
