Yolanda Newhouse holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of Texas at Arlington and a master’s degree in teaching from Texas Woman’s University. She has served in Dallas ISD for 19 years beginning as a substitute teacher, classroom teacher (grades K-4th), campus instructional coach and assistant principal. As a proud product of Dallas ISD she is an advocate for public school education and public school choice. This passion pushed her to write a proposal to open an innovative Montessori program at Lorenzo De Zavala Elementary, which led to the transformation model at the Montessori Academy at Onesimo Hernandez. This passion led her to receive her AMI (Association Montessori Internationale) Diploma from the Montessori Institute of North Texas (MINT). Being the founding assistant principal at the Montessori Academy, she is committed to the vision and mission of preparing all children to be successful in this changing world.
