Dr. Roberto Gonzalez has served Dallas ISD families since 2006. Born and raised in Colombia, Dr. Gonzalez graduated from the Universidad de Cartagena and his first career was as a medical doctor in underserved communities; he served the public and private health system in Colombia. Upon his arrival in the United States, Dr. Gonzalez's lineage of educators encouraged him to try education and he was hooked; he started as an early childhood educator at Louise W. Khan Elementary.
Principal Gonzalez has served Stevens Park Elementary in Oak Cliff for the past four years. In his first year as a Principal, Stevens Park achieved a TEA distinction in the area of Science. Before joining the Stevens Park Elementary team, Gonzalez served as a bilingual teacher, grade level chair, Math and Science Instructional Coach, and Assistant Principal. During his service as Assistant Principal, he helped the school achieve five TEA distinctions.
Dr. Gonzalez believes in the power of relationships, not only with students and staff, but also with the community at large. Under his leadership, Stevens Park has entered several partnerships, including with Toyota, United Way and the National Wildlife Federation. These partnerships have enhanced the learning experience at Stevens Park through the Monarch Butterfly Garden, STEM lab, and much more.
Dr. Gonzalez has been happily married to Yamila Musa for thirteen years and they have three children, ages 12, 6, and 3.
