    SEM is the only school at Townview Magnet Center to receive the Blue Ribbon award three-times and one of only three Texas high schools to ever receive the award three-times!

Current Applicants

  • We are so happy you have decided to take our entrance examinations!  Here is some information to help you prepare:



    • Testing will be in person at the School of Science and Engineering at Townview Magnet Center (1201 E. 8th Street Dallas, TX 75203)

    • Please drop your student off at the front (facing 8th Street, in front of the Flag Poles)



    • Morning Testers need to arrive by 8:15 am and will be done by 12:00 pm

    • Afternoon Testers need to arrive by 12:45 pm  and will be done by 4:30 pm 


    What to bring:

    • Please bring your Dallas ISD issued Chromebook, with a charged battery.

    • If you do not have a Dallas ISD issued Chomebook, please bring a personal laptop or Chromebook. If you do not have access to a device, please fill out this form.

    • All other testing materials will be provided

    • Note: Calculators are not allowed on the math test.


    How to prepare

    The links below will take you to an overview of the testing process. The best way to prepare is to practice specific math concepts that you struggle with: our math test is very similar to the practice problems on Khan Academy. There are links to specific types of problems in the SEM Math Page.
