Purpose of the House System
Implementing the Tiger Nation House System will be impactful in various capacities, affecting students, teachers, faculty and the community alike.
CULTURE OF BELONGING The House System helps provide a culture of belonging. Some scholars may feel out of place, but being a part of a house provides camaraderie and can eliminate the feeling of loneliness. As the year progresses, student’s personal accomplishments will be rewarded and combined with points earned by other house members. Their contribution leads to recognition from their peers and shines a light on making good choices. All points combined will declare the school wide House System victor.
The culture created by the House System will be inclusive for all members of the Tiger Nation. Parents and community members are welcome and encouraged to be a part of the House System. This helps to build child-to-parent relationships and helps to keep the community engaged with Adelle Turner.
SCHOOL-WIDE COMMUNITY The House System generates cross-age interaction, building a community mixed with a variety of experiences and maturity. This structure can strengthen the social and academic lives of the mentor and mentee. The mentor teaches and grows due to the guidance they provide for the mentee. The mentee gains a support system and blossoms into a leader as time progresses.
CHARACTER BUILDING With student interaction and camaraderie, the House System also works to build character. The reward system allows each member of the house to contribute to the collective group, continuing to expand the social and academic benefits of the House System. The Houses will boost student morale, nurture the individual, build relationships, and foster higher academic achievement.
