Middle School Athletics at Alex Sanger Preparatory
-
At Alex Sanger Preparatory, we believe in fostering the development of well-rounded students who excel both academically and athletically.
While we do not field school sports teams under the Sanger Stallion uniform, we proudly partner with W.H. Gaston Middle School to offer our 7th and 8th graders access to a robust athletic program. This collaboration aligns with our mission and vision as a premier institution providing a world-class education, ensuring that our students have the opportunity to participate in competitive sports, develop teamwork skills, and cultivate lifelong healthy habits.

Middle School Athletics Residency Requirements
At Alex Sanger Preparatory, we value the physical development of our students as much as their academic growth. To ensure every student has the opportunity to participate in sports, we partner with W.H. Gaston Middle School for athletics. However, UIL middle school athletics residency requirements may impact where your child can participate in sports. Below is a breakdown of how these requirements affect different student categories:
Category 1:
If your address is within Sanger’s attendance zone, your child will participate in athletics at W.H. Gaston Middle School.Category 2:
If your child is a transfer student to Sanger and your address is within the attendance zone of W.H. Gaston Middle School, your child will participate in athletics at W.H. Gaston Middle School.Category 3:
If your child is a transfer student to Sanger, but your address is not within the attendance zone of either Sanger or W.H. Gaston Middle School, your child will participate in athletics at their zoned middle school. For instance, a transfer student zoned for J.L. Long Middle School (part of the Woodrow Wilson High School Vertical Team) would participate in athletics at J.L. Long Middle School. Similarly, a transfer student zoned for H.W. Lang Middle School (part of the Skyline High School Vertical Team) would participate in athletics at H.W. Lang Middle School. Our goal is to ensure every student who wishes to compete in sports has the opportunity to do so.
