Carrie Bruce grew up in Mesquite, just 8 miles from Comstock Middle School. She graduated from University of Houston in 1992 and began teaching middle school in Houston. In 1995, she moved back to Mesquite and became a librarian for Mesquite Schools. She graduated in 1997 with a Master's in Library Science from Texas Woman's University.
From 2000-2009, Ms. Bruce took a hiatus from education, earned her Master's in Business Administration from Southern Methodist University, and began traveling the United States and working with university libraries and online resources. She returned to the classroom and resumed coaching volleyball in 2009.
Ms. Bruce was able to return to the library in 2012 when she transferred to DISD. Since then she has completed the requirements for an administrator’s certificate. She believes we all should be lifelong learners and is currently finishing her doctorate degree in Educational Leadership.
Teaching students to research and love reading is her passion and she is excited to be in her 2nd year at Comstock.
