Early Childhood Education
The early childhood program (PreK-3) builds the foundation for a learning continuum from prekindergarten through 12th grade. It is based on a comprehensive curriculum, knowledge of child development, research, and best practices. It provides an enriched and supportive learning environment to nurture the intellectual, physiological, social, and emotional development of young children.
The prekindergarten program is a full-year, intensive language development and early literacy program designed to give four-year old children who qualify for the program an opportunity to develop skills, concepts, and attitudes needed for school success. To enroll in the program, a child must: be at least four years of age on or before Sept. 1 of the current school year and not speak or comprehend English or be eligible for free or reduced price lunch or receive services for the homeless
A full-day instructional program for kindergarten is conducted in each elementary school that has an early childhood program. The program is designed to promote academic skills, which provide a firm foundation for later school success. For more information about the above three programs, call (972) 925-6770.
