Extended Learning Opportunities ensures the learning never stops.

  • Young brains never take a break from learning. And in Dallas ISD, we believe the same should be true for learning opportunities.

Coordinating these opportunities is the work of the Extended Learning Opportunities team, which partners with area youth-serving organizations to create high-quality out-of-school learning experiences for students in grades pre-K through 12.

Mission: Provide equitable access and opportunities to high quality programs to impact the achievement gap. Our focus is on cultivating the growth of the whole child through programs to develop a student’s cognitive, social, physical, and emotional well-being.

In After-School we are E3 (Engaging, Enriching, and Empowering)

To keep the students excited about learning and to address the needs of a highly diverse student population, we provide equitable access to afterschool activities. Afterschool program offerings are unique and varies by campus, so we encourage parents to speak directly to their child’s school about available activities and programs.

    Variety is our Middle Name

To keep students excited about learning and to address the needs of a highly diverse student population, we create after-school programs that differ from campus to campus and even from week to week at the same school. That’s why we encourage parents to speak directly with the staff of their child’s school about available options.

Opportunities on a given campus may include:

    • Visual and Fine Arts
    • Academic Skill Building
    • Social and Emotional Development
    • College and Career Readiness
    • Project Based Learning
    • Sports and Recreation
    • STEM Activities
    • Character and Leadership Development
    • Health and Wellness
    • Homework Assistance

    In Summer, We Really Shine

Summer learning options are equally varied. They include traditional summer school academic instruction as well as enrichment activities. Summer Readiness and Credit Recovery programs feature instruction to help students who need to make up academic shortfalls. Participants in our Summer Learning Camps explore fun, intercultural and artistic experiences that also serve to provide parents with safe, engaging child care.
